YouTube has no separate scheduler for Shorts. A Short is scheduled the same way as any other upload: you upload it privately and set the moment it goes public. YouTube's help article on scheduling describes the steps for YouTube Studio and names the YouTube app as the second option.
Whether the upload ends up as a Short is decided by its format and length, so check both before you pick a time.
The short version
- Schedule while uploading, in YouTube Studio or the YouTube app.
- A Short is square or vertical and no longer than three minutes.
- You can change the time as long as the video is still private.
How do you schedule a Short in YouTube Studio?
These are the steps from YouTube's help center as of October 2026:
Upload
In YouTube Studio, click Create, then Upload videos, and pick your file.
Add details
Write the title and description. For a Short, a short title that says what happens works best.
Set the time
Open the scheduling option and choose the date, time and time zone.
Confirm
Click Schedule. The video stays private until the publish time.
The YouTube app follows the same route. Watch the time zone: it decides when the Short actually goes live, which matters when you plan for viewers in another country.
Ten Shorts, one upload
Drop the whole week of Shorts into BestPost at once. Each one gets its own publish time.
- Takes 100 videos and more in one go
- Spreads the dates across your weekly pattern and posts on its own
- Publishes from the server, your browser can stay closed
What makes a video a Short?
YouTube's page on Shorts up to three minutes sets two conditions, format and length:
| Condition | What YouTube requires |
|---|---|
| Aspect ratio | Square or vertical |
| Length | Up to 3 minutes |
| Applies to | Videos uploaded from October 15, 2024, and from December 8, 2025 for official artist channels |
| Upload | Through the YouTube app or YouTube Studio |
A landscape video stays a regular video, even at 30 seconds. If your upload doesn't show up as a Short, work through why your video isn't classified as a YouTube Short.
One recent change matters for Shorts with music. Since September 24, 2026, new Shorts longer than one minute and shorter than three that carry an active Content ID claim are no longer blocked automatically. Shorts under one minute keep the previous rules.
How do you change a scheduled Short?
You can move the time or publish right away. In YouTube Studio, open Content on the left, pick the video and edit its visibility. The scheduled time can only be changed while the video is private: choose Edit draft and set a new time. To publish immediately, switch visibility to Public.
Two details from the help center are easy to miss:
- If your channel has a Community Guidelines strike, scheduled videos won't publish during the penalty period. They stay private and have to be rescheduled afterwards.
- The date on the watch page follows Pacific Time. A Short published early in the morning in Europe can show the previous day's date.

When is a scheduler worth it?
YouTube Studio is enough for one Short a week. A scheduler pays off once you produce Shorts in batches, or when the same clip should also run elsewhere:
YouTube Studio
- Upload and caption every Short by hand
- YouTube only
- Set each publish time yourself
BestPost
- Many Shorts at once, texts written from the video
- The same video on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and X too
- Times follow your weekly pattern

Titles that fit the Short
BestPost watches and listens to each Short and writes the title and description. You change whatever you don't like.
- Writes the description, YouTube title, hashtags and first comment from your video
- Every text stays editable until you post
- Sends the same video to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and X
How does BestPost schedule Shorts?
BestPost uploads the Short to YouTube at the scheduled time, not before. Until then you can change the video, title and time in BestPost without deleting and re-uploading anything on YouTube. You choose the visibility for each video.
For a whole series, how to bulk upload and schedule YouTube Shorts covers order and spacing. How often a new Short makes sense is the topic of how often to post YouTube Shorts.
