A share button is convenient until it produces the wrong result. You expected a new Reel; instead, you see a link, a message composer or an empty screen. That does not necessarily mean your Instagram account cannot publish video.
Start by naming the task. Sharing access to an existing TikTok is different from publishing your own video as a separate Instagram post. Once that is clear, you can test the part of the workflow that failed.
Inspect what arrived
Look at the destination screen before trying again. Is there a playable video, a web address or no content at all? Is the screen creating the kind of post you intended?
| What you see | What you know so far |
|---|---|
| A TikTok URL | A reference to the existing post was transferred |
| A playable file | Media arrived, but still needs review |
| An empty composer | No usable media is visible in that draft |
| A saved draft | Publication has not necessarily happened |
| A public Reel | Check its account and contents before retrying |
These are diagnostic categories, not a promise about the options in every app version.

Upload once, post everywhere
One file reaches every channel you ticked.
- Sends the same video to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and X
- Takes 100 videos and more in one go
- Its own text per platform, the same video file
Test the destination independently
Open Instagram directly in the intended account. Try selecting a video file you own and have approved for the task. You can inspect the draft without publishing it.
If the file works there, investigate the app-to-app handoff next. If it fails there too, inspect the file and the destination's message. You have separated a transfer problem from a more general publishing problem.
Change one variable at a time. Replacing the file, switching accounts and changing app versions in one attempt may get you unstuck, but it leaves the cause unclear.
Keep a known source for your own content
Prepare your own clips with these checks:
- Approved export: For a repeatable workflow, keep your approved video exports independently of the social platforms. This lets you start each destination from a known version.
- File identity: Use a file name that identifies the language and revision. Check the export in a normal player, including its audio and ending. A thumbnail in a file picker is not enough to establish that the right version was selected.
- Own material: This is an organizational recommendation for your own material. It is not a method for bypassing download restrictions or reusing someone else's work without permission.
Each new destination can then begin with a known version.
Recheck the post around the video
The accompanying text may need a new instruction. “See the link above” can stop making sense when the surrounding interface changes. Account mentions may refer to different handles. A promotion may already have expired.
Also review music and other third-party material for the intended use. The ability to transfer a file is not evidence that every included element is cleared for a new destination.
Do not use a claim about guaranteed reach to decide whether the handoff succeeded. Technical publication and audience performance are different questions.

Confirm the final destination
Verify the destination in these steps:
Inspect the preview
Before publishing, inspect the account handle, video, accompanying text and visible overlays. Watch for text covered by interface controls or two subtitle layers obscuring each other.
Find the actual post
After publishing, find the actual post and retain its URL. If the tool's response was unclear, this is the first place to check before sending another copy.
Record the handoff
For recurring work, a simple handoff sheet is useful: approved file, destination account, destination-specific copy and current status. BestPost's multi-platform workflow is designed around preparing finished videos for connected channels.
An existing post can then be identified before another copy is sent.
Give support a reproducible description
A useful report explains where you started, what you selected and what appeared next. “Instagram opened with a URL in the message field” is more informative than “sharing failed.”
Include the exact error and app version when available. Keep private messages and unrelated account information out of screenshots.
If direct selection of your approved file works, you can use that confirmed route for the current post while investigating the share-button problem separately. Avoid turning the troubleshooting process into several public test posts.
